A Firefly Bridal Shower and Other Adventures

Comic-Con Prep, Bridal Showers, and Rainbow Hair!

I just finished a very busy, very fun, and very nerdy weekend! On Friday my sister and I went and finished up our shopping for our Comic-con costumes! The only thing missing are my ninja boots…which are supposed to arrive end of the day tomorrow! Yay for cosplay procrastination!

Saturday morning found me bright and early getting my wedding dress fitted. Then it was rush rush rush to get my hair done for Comic Con! My amazing stylist Katie Minalga rocked the style! The colors are like a rainbow on my head, and will be perfect with my Harujuku style outfit!

And that wasn’t even the funnest part of my day! My cute, perfect little sister threw me the
best bridal shower ever! My brother’s girlfriend and my future in-laws of awesome all collaborated with her to organize a…wait for it…FIREFLY THEMED SHOWER!

Everything from the decorations to the games to the fiery cupcakes revolved around one of my favorite shows of all time. A banner handmade by my Aunt Shawna and Cousin Catey looked professional in quality, and my ladies made me my very own Firefly styled opening credits name plate. The gold streamers and red, yellow, and orange balloons completed the look.

My brother’s girl proved that she totally deserves a place in the family with the what was dubbed ‘the funnest bridal shower game I’ve ever played’ by one of the guests.

It involved teams, shooting nerf gun projectiles at one another, leap frog, and passing apples from chin to chin. The point was to hop from planet to planet, Alliance vs.The  Rebel Force, the final stop being Miranda. The last leg of the journey was an three legged race. Competitive spirits ran high, and even ended in a few bruises here and there. Of course, my team one! The prize? Only my favorite candy, Happy Hippos by Kinder Chocolate! I freaking love those things!

Three legged race casualty. But we got the prize, and that’s all that matters!

A game of jeopardy followed, with fun categories that included general Ronnie questions and, of course, a Firefly category. Obviously my geeky girls had a bit of an advantage on that one!

Next was my favorite part – presents! I got the usual fun assortment of lingerie, all of which were gorgeous and I loved (not surprising, since I registered for them!). I also got some fun geeky things, also registered for by me on Amazon.  A Pikachu hat, drawing supplies, geeky shirts, and a sweet writing lamp for my nighttime laptop adventures all became additions to Ronnie’s Life.

Basking in the awesome that is my life!

This busy but fun weekend is the perfect send off before I leave for Comic-con!  My cute precious little sister is coming over for a night of ravioli, giggling, and packing for our road trip!

I’m ready for a whirl-wind of a week, and then I’m coming home and sleeping for two days!  Or, you know, planning a wedding and playing catch-up at work.  Still, being busy and slightly flustered at all times is a totally legitimate price to pay for this most amazing of weeks!

Remember to geek out at all times, and I hope to see you at Comic-con!!!
