07-Ghost Manga – For the Fujoshi

Alright all my female otakus who have a penchant for the BL. The manga-turned-anime 07-Ghost unabashedly throws bromance with a large side of subtle romance at the swooning fangirls. If your tastes don’t lie that way, you should pass – but if you are guilty of the occasional glompage of an overabundance of male bonding that borderlines on boy love…well, 07-Ghost is for you.

For good measure the creators of this manga threw in, like, a plot – which is always a plus.  Fantasy and adventure make you feel a little less guilty about reading a manga whose cover features a petite protagonist in chains being ‘protected’ by a (handsome) rebel with a scythe.

07 Ghost Cover Volume 1 – Frau and Teito

If you enjoyed Kyo Kara Maoh! you’re sure to get some delight out of 07-Ghost. There are plenty of Bishōnen with large sparkly eyes angsting out and declaring their undying devotion to each other (of course in a friend zone way…cough, cough) fairly regularly.

Teito and Mikage

*Slight Spoilers Ahead*

Teito Klein is a former ‘sklave’ – or slave, who was taken in by the imperial army and trained for combat at a young age. He has no memory of his former life, and is a slightly surly and quiet boy who has only one friend – Mikage. They are fiercely protective of one another, and completely devoted to their friendship.

RideBack Episodes 1-4 Review

I’ve always been on the look out for a similar anime, but nothing in the genre has ever really caught my interest. Until now. Hulu suggested that I give RideBack a try yesterday, and I thought, why not? Sure, I should have been working on my novel or a blog post, but anime breaks are totally legit (ah, so this is why high school was a fail for me)! You’d think by now I would know better than to tell myself that I could watch ‘only one.’ Four episodes later, I’ve done nothing else and I’m hooked.

I am alerting you that there are spoilers ahead!
