Holy Adult Scene, Skip Beat!

A discussion of Skip Beat Manga Chapters 190-197

Skip Beat took things to a whole new level in volumes 190-197.  Kyouko is forced to accept a ride to the studio or be late for work after her abduction. Who sees her riding in a car with Sho? Ren of course.

This leads to a lot angst for Kyouko – because she’s been on the receiving end of angry Ren – and Ren himself, because let’s face it, he’s the angst king. In the midst of all the upset, Sho uses Kyouko’s uncertainty to convince her to make a really dumb promise, since we all know where things are going with Ren. She pretty much told him that if she couldn’t become a famous actress without falling for Ren and ‘shaming’ herself, she would become Sho’s waitress for life. Kyouko’s cute and everything, but she’s pretty easy to fool – especially by master manipulator Sho. Which is too bad, since she promised herself she’d never let a man fool her again. Oops.

March Story Volume 4 Manga Review!

To read about March Story Volumes 1- 3 click here.

In a word: awesome

UPS made me a happy, happy girl when they dropped off a package to me yesterday. With much glee I ripped open the package, and had to shield my eyes against the ethereal light that shone from within. Finally. Volume 4 of March Story had arrived!

First of all, the cover. The magenta hue and March’s skin tight outfit told me there would be some extra focus on the fact that our poor little March is a woman – not the man she pretends to be to avoid falling into the trap that will destroy her – love. The back shows the reemergence of a character we thought long dead…and the dark blue and black colors clue us into the fact that THIS IS THE BAD GUY. Because her creepy face wasn’t an obvious indication. Did I mention I love  Kyung-II Yang?

Until Death Do Us Part Manga Discussion of Awesome

This week I did something that I have been far too busy to enjoy the last few months. I went to the bookstore and I browsed.  For like two hours! It was awesome, and relaxing, and therapeutic…seriously, the bookstore is one of my favorite places. Back when I was younger and had time, I would spend whole days there, sipping coffee, reading, playing on my laptop…

Anyway, the reason for this post is that I found an amazing new manga to read while browsing. It has swords, organized crime, and characters that you can really sink your teeth into. Until Death Do Us Part is an action packed story with detailed art and characters that can actually be distinguished by sight from every other manga/anime drawing. Ooooh, and it actually has a bit of plot mixed in with all the sword play and gun fights.
